Born in 1980, Marie Guérin, a French sound artist (Banc d’Essai INA-GRM prize in 2013, Sacem Musique Concrète prize in 2015) working with sound recordings and radio archives, captures and manipulates the traces left on the radio waves by “Hertzian ghosts”. A mixture of voices, textures, grain, and anecdotal sounds, her work is an interrogation of our shared audio heritage, of its medium and the traces left by these media. Her music ranges from radiophonic grammar to musique concrète, from documentary poetry to electroacoustics. Her current work is on the ‘A Summer in Le Havre’ project, where she has built a 14-speaker sound system.
